Christmas on the Creek, Dec. 4th

Decorating the trees and the house aren’t the only ways to bring in the holiday cheer here in the River City. The Julington Creek Prop Club is holding their annual “Christmas on the Creek” boat parade on Saturday December 4, 2010. The parade is an event that residents and friends look forward to all year long. All boat owners are invited to deck their boats with boughs of holly and of course, as many lights as they can handle.

The parade will begin shortly after sunset, about 7:00 PM, when the boats will gather on the West side of the Sr 13 Bridge over Julington Creek, they will then proceed around Bulls Bay and back under the bridge, proceeding all the way down Durbin Creek, and then they will be returning to the Marina at Julington Creek for the awards ceremony.  During the parade, all those who reside on the creek are encouraged to have friends and family over to watch the parade from their docks or homes. The effect is truly magical as the boats slowly make their way through the creek, lighting up the night sky and reflecting beautifully off the calm waters.

So, if you live in the area, be sure to save the date of December 4th on the calendar because “Christmas on the Creek” is the perfect way to usher in the holidays with loved ones. Even if you live across town from the Julington Creek area, make a trip over to a friend’s or find a place to watch the parade and all the magical views that promises to come with it.
