Faces of the First Coast 2011 Go Red For Women Casting Call

The American Heart Association’s “Go Red For Women” movement is calling on women and men who live in the region to submit their heart health stories for the 2011 “Faces of the First Coast” casting call. If chosen, applicants will become representatives of the local public awareness campaign beginning in the spring of 2011. In addition, local winners will be eligible for submission to the American Heart Association’s national “Go Red For Women” casting call. Members of the “Faces of the First Coast” work to bring the dangers, signs and symptoms of cardiovascular disease to our community. They represent, exemplify and advocate for the mission of Go Red For Women through education and awareness.

For every heart, there is a story. That’s why the Go Red For Women movement is looking for survivors, family members, prevention advocates, lifestyle change individuals and heart health professionals to share their stories.

“After learning of my own heart condition and losing my father to heart disease, I know how important it is to speak up about this silent killer,” said Jennie Garth, actress and heart health advocate. “Too many women remain unaware. We must spread the word to our friends, family and community about how to make the right choices every day. You can truly save lives with the power of your very own voice.”

Submissions taken through February 4, 2011

Participants should send a biography including their heart story and their image demonstrating their favorite way to “Go Red” to the local American Heart Association office at 5851 St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32207 or by email to lorie.strangepaylor@heart.org.  For more details call (904) 256-5642.
