"I'm always looking for new ways to eat my favorite menu items."

The Loop Pizza Grill employee and culinary student, Chris Holmes, knows his way around a kitchen. For the past nine years, he's worked side-by-side in the Mandarin location with his mother, Joanne, a founding staff member of The Loop and store manager.

At the age of 24, he's already got a leg-up on his culinary counter-parts. In honor of The Loop's 30th anniversary, all locations will roll out Holmes's creation, a Tomato Bisque pizza. This is part of a limited time special.

"At least one out of every three people who come through our door asks for the Tomato Bisque soup," said Holmes. "It's a signature item at the restaurant."

He says he enjoys getting creative in the kitchen and coming up with new ways to spice-up menu items. Holmes incorporated the unique, quality ingredients in the soup, like the Asiago croutons, basil, and bacon right into The Loop's signature pizza.

Holmes adds this was a trial and error process to perfect the recipe. In the end, the Tomato Bisque soup worked best on top of the cheese, unlike a traditional tomato sauce.

"I'd call it an explosion of Tomato Bisque in your mouth," said Holmes.

He believes combining these two comfort foods will entice a new batch of customers, as well as, intrigue their loyal regulars.

"I'm happy to contribute my idea to the company, and I hope it generates a lot of attention," said Holmes.

He said his mother, Joanne, is a continuing inspiration for him. She's the reason he made The Loop his home away from home.

"My mom has worked at The Loop for 30 years, and I'm 24, so I've been eating The Loop food since I've been in the womb," Holmes said.

Joanne said this achievement means so much more to her, since she's watched her son grow within The Loop family.

"This is a mother's dream, watching my child pursue his passion," she said. "The Loop's been a part of my life for the past three decades; I'm just honored I get to work next to him and see his creativity grow first hand."

Holmes said his history and knowledge of Loop food is the grounds for his success in the kitchen. Holmes wants to continue to invent new and exciting menu items for the company.

"I've got some more tricks up my sleeve," he said. "But everyone will just have to wait and see what I come up with next."
