Three Teens Charged With Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest

A complaint affidavit for charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence were signed against three St. Johns County male teenagers early Sunday evening after fleeing from deputies.

Numerous deputies responded to the area of I-95 and C.R. 210 Sunday shortly before 6:00 p.m. after the Sheriff’s Office received two calls from Interstate travelers who observed a male subject on a billboard armed with a long unknown type rifle. As deputies began to check several billboards, two deputies observed several subjects walking westbound on a dirt road that parallels the power lines. The deputies told the subjects to stop, however they took off running.

The investigation led deputies to a residence in the 700 block of New Wales La. where they located a 16 year old male juvenile wearing a mask and dressed in camo clothing who was ordered to the ground at gunpoint. After several commands of non compliance, the juvenile was forced to his stomach and questioned. The teen told the deputy that he was a guest at the residence and several other juveniles were all playing “airsoft” in the woods. A parent was then contacted who confirmed that she had eight juveniles, all ages 15 & 16, at the residence who had been playing airsoft.

All of the juveniles were then brought outside for questioning and the three that ran from deputies earlier were all identified. All of the juveniles were identified and parents were notified to respond. Deputies seized 14 assorted “airsoft” replica weapons that resemble actual handguns, machine guns, rifles and shotguns.

The juveniles and parents were advised of the seriousness and potential consequences of displaying toy weapons that appeared real to responding deputies.
