St. Johns County Public Library Announces "Snapshot: A Day in the Life of Florida Libraries"

The St. Johns County Public Library System will be participating in “Snapshot: A Day in the Life of Florida Libraries” on Tuesday, January 25, 2011.  This state-wide project will illustrate the importance of libraries for Florida’s citizens through collection of statistics, stories and photographs. Participating branches throughout the state will host events in hopes of increasing library awareness.

Library Announces 2011 “St. Johns Reads” Program

The St. Johns County Public Library System invites the community to join together in the enjoyment of reading for the 6th annual St. Johns Reads program. The month of February has been designated for the St. Johns Reads community reading project, and this year activities will focus on The Art of Racing in the Rain, a novel by Garth Stein.

Friends and Family to Fill the St. Johns County Administration Building on February 1, 2011

Art, music, friendship, and family connects the seven artists included in Friends and Family, the St. Johns Cultural Council’s newest Art in Public Spaces exhibit. The work will be on display in the Rotunda Gallery located in the St. Johns County Administration Building starting February 1, 2011.  

St. Augustine Air Shows announce 2011 Commemorative Poster Contest

St. Augustine Air Shows and Southeast Aero are calling all artists to submit their visions in a 2011 St. Augustine Air Show commemorative poster contest. The chosen artist will receive a cash prize of $750 sponsored by Southeast Aero Services, Inc.

World Golf Hall of Fame IMAXR Theater Presents 3D Lineup

With the largest IMAX 3D digital screen in the Southeastern United States, the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater will reopen to the public on Saturday, Jan. 29 after closing to upgrade to IMAX 3D digital technology. Tickets for the first movies to show in 3D digital format go on sale on Friday, Jan. 21. Located at World Golf Village, the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater will be one of five institutional theaters in the world to offer this level of IMAX 3D digital technology.

The Celebrated War of 1812 Tall Ship LYNX Arriving in Jacksonville

All law-abiding and loyal citizens are urged to be vigilant and alert to the presence on your coast of the weatherly, fast, and heavily armed Clipper Schooner Lynx. The 122-foot square top sail schooner Lynx will be sailing into Jacksonville for the first time on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11:00 am. Join the flotilla as she fires a salute from her main battery of 6-pounder carronades upon her grand entrance into Jacksonville.  The celebrated War of 1812 privateer square top sail schooner has arrived on the East Coast from Hawai’i & California and is scheduled for a five-year mission along the East Coast of the United States and Canada and will be participating  in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and the Star-Spangled Banner.
