Publix Super Markets throughout the area, are partnering with Produce for Kids® on the largest-ever annual Get Healthy, Give Hope campaign to raise money for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and to encourage families to cook together and eat healthier.

Produce for Kids’ Get Healthy, Give Hope campaign will raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in local communities and encourage families to cook together and eat healthier. When shoppers buy participating sponsors fresh fruit and vegetable products from Publix Super Markets during the campaign, June 2 - 29, a donation will be made to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the Publix market area.  Shoppers can find messaging about the campaign and participating sponsors on signage in the produce department.

In a Cornell University study1, parents were asked to cook with their children and report what happened. Among the results, 94% of respondents reported serving vegetables to their family five or more times per week compared to 76% before they participated in the program.

“We are excited to participate in the Produce for Kids and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in-store campaign,” said Maria Brous, Publix director of media and community relations. “Our customers and associates have a passion for giving back and ensuring children in need get the best medical care available. An added benefit of our partnership, is to get parents and kids eating healthier by including fresh produce in their diets.”

New this year, Produce for Kids will feature new QR code technology (the square bar codes) on the in-store point-of-sale materials. The codes will immediately link a shoppers’ smartphone to cooking videos featuring PFK Chef Marshall O’Brien preparing specially marked Ideal Meals.  There are also QR codes on point-of-sale displays which link shoppers to the Get Healthy, Give Hope Sweepstakes, and a chance to win a full-motion, interactive gaming system, cookware sets and grocery store gift cards.

This is the ninth year that Publix has partnered with Produce for Kids, Publix shoppers and the participating fresh produce companies have raised more than $1 million for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals; funds raised stays local and benefits area hospitals.
