First Florida Credit Union Receives National Awards

First Florida Credit Union’s efforts in providing financial literacy programs were recognized with two Merit Awards at CUNA’s Marketing and Business Development Council’s 18th annual conference held March 16-19 in Las Vegas, NV.

“We are extremely proud of the recognition, as helping people build financial strength through hands-on educational programs is a core service which we provide,” said First Florida’s Senior Vice President Michelle Troha.

Throughout the year, First Florida hosted several free financial seminars and financial workshops for teens. At Mad City Money workshops, staff taught over 200 students, in Tallahassee and Miami, the vital financial skills they will need in the future.

Additionally, First Florida established a Financial Fitness Program that empowers adults to assert control over their finances by providing them with the skills and insight to curtail spending and eliminate unnecessary expenses. Over 100 adults participated in the program.

First Florida Credit Union, headquartered in Jacksonville, operates several branches throughout the state. Anyone who lives or works in any of the following Florida counties: Leon, Baker, Broward, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Orange, Hillsborough, Miami-Dade, Seminole, Nassau, and St. Johns is eligible to open an account. Additionally, employees of the state of Florida, CSX Transportation, and other specified companies are also eligible to join First Florida.
