JACKSONVILLE  – On July 6, you’ll not only have the opportunity to “Raise a Ruckus for the River” but you’ll be able to raise a ruckus for free.

The Riverside Arts Market and St. Johns Riverkeeper are partnering to host the River Ruckus event, a family friendly festival from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., to celebrate the many positive aspects of the St. Johns River.

In honor of the event, the Freedom Boat Club will be offering free boat rides from the dock at Riverside Arts Market, which has a floating dock and offers a great view of downtown from the water.

No reservations are necessary. Simply stop by the FBC booth and sign up for the free boat rides, which will be offered from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

“This is a great event for the city of Jacksonville and a great opportunity for people to get out and enjoy the St. Johns River,” said Lisa Almeida of the Freedom Boat Club. “Not enough people take advantage of the beautiful waterways we have. So, we want to offer the chance for folks who don’t have access to a boat to come cruise with us on the St. Johns.”

“Raise a Ruckus for the River” is meant to highlight the various recreational benefits offered by the St. Johns.  Scheduled events include live music, river crafts for kids, a celebrity jump into the river, food vendors at the Riverside Arts Market, crafts, and beer tasting offered by SweetWater Brewing Co.

Freedom Boat Club, the nation’s largest and oldest boat club, is based in Florida and has 68 locations across the nation. Locally, FBC operates in two sites: Julington Creek Marina in Jacksonville and Camachee Cove Marina in St. Augustine.
