Tools 4 Schools Desperate for More Supplies

The St. Johns County Education Foundation (SCJEF) is wrapping up its two and a half week long school supply donation drive this weekend as a part of its annual Tools 4 Schools program. The drive began in early August with public and internal donation sites located at select businesses in the area.

Tools 4 Schools is an annual school supply drive that aims to offset teachers’ classroom costs.  Countless students in St. Johns County are unable to come to school prepared. Many times teachers will use their own personal funds to provide those students with the necessary supplies.

“I spend my own money every year, especially for colored pencils, pocket folders and composition books for my kids who can't afford them” stated an anonymous educator.

During these past few weeks, the public has graciously donated new school supplies through the use of collection bins around St. Johns County and neighboring areas. Despite the valiant effort there is still a great need for more supplies. What we are asking is while picking up those last minute supplies for the first day of school, please purchase a few extra items for those less fortunate.

The supplies that are collected will be distributed during the Tools 4 Schools event on August 31st at Pacetti Bay Middle School. The donations are offered to the educators of the School District to use in their classrooms and for their students during the academic year.
