Retailers, Restaurants Offer Veterans Day Freebies

 

Vets on a tight budget can put away their wallets over the next few days.

Some of the nation's largest retailers are offering a satchel full of freebies to veterans and active military members in honor of Veterans Day. Most of the freebies require proof of military service. Many are restricted to specific hours on Friday, but some of the giveaways begin earlier and have fewer restrictions.

Ahoy there and Ho Ho Ho!  The holiday spirit comes to the creek this time of year. If you peer out your car windows heading north across the Julington Creek Bridge the last couple of weeks in November you can see many “Captain” Santa’s.  They are decorating their vessels in hopes of a good clear night and low tides for sailing in the 2011 Christmas on the Creek light parade.

Ripley’s Welcomes Law Enforcement Personnel at No Charge

 

Ripley’s Attractions of St Augustine, Florida will be hosting Law Enforcement Appreciation Days from November 1 through November 23. 

All Law Enforcement personnel currently employed in the state of Florida are invited to attend the following attractions at no charge during those dates: Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum, Ripley’s Red Sightseeing Trains and Ripley’s Bayfront Mini-Golf.  They may also purchase tickets to the Ripley’s Ghost Train Adventure for themselves and their guests at 50% off while also receiving discounts to over 100 shops and restaurants in the city with their Red Train sticker.   

A Bag Of Groceries Gets You Get a Car Show Ticket

ORANGE PARK, FL -- Like muscle cars?  How about motorcycles or antique cars?  Mark your calendar for November 13th to enjoy a car show and help the less fortunate. 

First Baptist Church of Orange Park will host its 3rd Annual Car & Bike Show Sunday, November 13, to benefit Orange Park Clothes Closet. 

The show will be held at 1140 Kingsley Ave from 2-5pm with awards to be presented at 5pm.

All proceeds will be given to the OP Clothes Closet. 

BBQ meals will be available to purchase onsite by Seriously Smokin' BBQ.

First Baptist members, Jim Hall, Lonnie Walls and Bob Duncan will spearhead the event again this year registering antique cars, muscle cars, foreign makes and motorcycles. 

Registration for the car show and admission to the concert will be one grocery bag full of donations (canned meat, cereal, peanut butter, bath towels, bed sheets) or $20.

Boorito is Back: Chipotle Hosts Halloween Fundraiser & Launches Short Film to Benefit Farm Aid

 

Chipotle Mexican Grill  will raise up to $1 million to benefit family farmers through its annual “Boorito” Halloween fundraiser. Customers visiting any Chipotle restaurant in the US, Canada and the UK on Monday, October 31st from 6 p.m. to close dressed in a costume inspired by the family farm will be treated to a burrito, order of tacos, salad, or burrito bowl for only $2, and Chipotle will donate proceeds (up to $1 million) to Farm Aid and the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation.
