The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious incident involving a child that occurred Monday afternoon in St. Johns, off Racetrack Rd.

The incident was reported Tuesday when the mother of a 6-year old girl told deputies that her daughter was playing outside near her home on W. Tropical Trace. According to the child a driver of a black truck pulled up and asked her to get inside. The girl ran to a friend’s house and stayed inside.

The suspicious driver is described as a skinny white male, younger than 40 years old with blonde hair and wearing a black t-shirt.

A preliminary search of the neighborhood did not produce the truck or anyone who witnessed the incident. The intentions of the driver in question are unknown and deputies are still looking to track down the driver for questioning.

Residents who may have witnessed any information relating to the male driver or vehicle described is asked to contact detectives with the Special Victims Unit at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at 904 824-8304.
