Have a dog?  Want a dog?  Join us for JCP Cares -- 3rd Annual Dog Day Afternoon Sunday, March 20th from 12 noon - 4pm at Julington Creek Plantation Park -- Davis Pond Blvd.

Time Change This Weekend Means Lawn Watering Change

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- 'Spring forward' this weekend is also a reminder to residents to change the batteries in smoke detectors and change the settings on home irrigation systems.

During the standard time that has prevailed since we 'fell back' in November, watering has been allowed only once per week, on either Saturday or Sunday, depending on even or odd-numbered addresses.

At 2 a.m. Sunday, that changes.

With the scorching sun beaming down more directly on Florida, lawns need more water, so the state allows irrigation systems to be used twice per week during Daylight Saving Time.

The St. Johns River Water Management District has established the standards for water usage, which are:

Jacksonville, FL is about to become an annual destination for rock music fans across the country.  The first annual Welcome To Rockville festival will be held along the beautiful St. Johns River in Downtown Jacksonville at Metropolitan Park on Sunday May 8th 2011. Featuring over 20 bands including Godsmack, Seether, Stone Sour, Theory Of A Deadman, Puddle Of Mudd, Skillet, Halestorm, Rev Theory, My Darkest Days, Jacksonville’s own Cold and many others.

Operation-Medicine Cabinet, March 12th

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is hosting another “Operation-Medicine Cabinet” this month in the Northeastern and Central parts of the county. This is a Pharmaceutical Take Back program, a prescription for safe kids and a clean environment.

The operations will take place on Saturday, 12 March, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the Gate Petroleum, 10970 U.S. 1 North (corner of U.S.1 and Valley Ridge Blvd.) as well in the parking lot at the Flagler Imaging Center, 101 Health Park Blvd.

Free Pancakes at Participating Perkins Restaurants 3/21 to Benefit Give Kids The World

On Monday, March 21, more than 420 Perkins Restaurant & Bakery locations will join together for a system-wide fundraiser benefitting Give Kids The World, a nonprofit organization that provides week-long vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families at a fanciful, “storybook” retreat in Central Florida. Guests dining at participating restaurants on “Perkins Pancake Day” can enjoy a free shortstack of Perkins made-from-scratch buttermilk pancakes, expertly prepared using Perkins legendary recipe created and perfected more than 50 years ago. In return, guests can consider making a donation to Give Kids The World.
