Fuel Price Brief for the Week of May 8

Oil prices dropped below $100 a barrel for the first time since February 25, to settle Friday at $97.18 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange—$16.75 less than last week. The announcement of Osama bin Laden’s death immediately caused oil prices to drop $10 a barrel at the start of the week on speculation his death could ease some of the turmoil in the Middle East.

St. Johns Weekly Traffic Advisory, April 4

ST. JOHNS COUNTY

County Road 13 at Sixteen Mile Creek (Monica Reifeiss: 800-749-2967): Flaggers may briefly stop traffic to allow heavy trucks to enter and exit the area.

King Street (State Road 5A) from the San Sebastian River to East of Malaga Street: Eastbound King Street traffic, between US 1 and just east of Malaga Street, is detoured at US 1 to West Castillo Drive to State Road A1A to Cathedral Place to Cordova Street and back to King Street through the end of April. Westbound King Street traffic is not detoured. Sebastian Harbor Drive is closed at King Street. Motorists traveling westbound on King Street to the San Sebastian Winery and the St. Augustine Police Station are directed to Riberia Street. Motorists traveling south on Malaga Street are only allowed to make a right turn onto King Street.

Fuel Price Brief for the Week of April 3

The price of crude oil advanced again last week after the U.S. Labor Department reported payroll gains were greater than projected. Payrolls increased 216,000 in March when they were projected to increase 190,000. The increase boosted investor confidence that demand is on the rise going into the summer driving season.

Fuel Price Brief for the Week of March 20

The national average price of unleaded regular gasoline is $3.54 per gallon, once-cent less than last week. Florida’s average price of $3.56 and Tennessee’s average price of $3.40 both decreased 2 cents from last week. While Georgia’s average price of $3.45 decreased 4 cents from last week, respectively.
